Brown bag with Brad Wheeler

Pack a lunch (or a late breakfast if you're on the west coast) and join the Chronicle for a live discussion on the Future of Open Source in Higher Education with Brad Wheeler. The abstract tees up one of the most interesting things about open source in education: The community source model for community organization and sustainability. It also invites a lively debate about the relationship between software companies and open source projects like Sakai and Kuali. Companies like Blackboard do a great job spreading FUD by building up a false comparison: open source vs. commercial. The reality is that open source is an alternative to proprietary, and that most often it is commercial. Companies like rSmart, IBM, Red Hat, Alfresco... the list goes on... all play a commercial role in open source software.

Join the discussion... Brad is a thoughtful and engaging leader... should be fun!
